Most people would interchange the terms weather watch and weather warning—and this is with a good reason. It’s because these two terms are so intertwined that their difference is sometimes overlooked. The very thin line that separates the weather watch from a weather warning is the nearness of the weather condition.
A weather watch should always come ahead of the weather warning. keep in mind that when you meet the word WATCH, it actually means you need to be alert for an impending weather disaster. Weather WARNING, on the other hand, simply means the weather condition that you are ‘watching’ is nearing or is actually happening.
